At the Bikery, we try to offer programs that meet the needs of our community. We're committed to making bikes accessible to everyone through our Youth Earn-A-Bike Program, Open Shop Time, Internship Program, and Upcycle Program. We know lots of different folks have knowledge in bikes, and we work to bring people together to share their skills and help each other learn.

Open Shop Time
During our open hours, anyone is welcome to come in and sign up
to use our tools and repair stands to work on their own bikes.
We also have regular times each month when the shop is open
just for specific groups of people to come and work on their bikes,
or learn how to fix their bike with help from staff and volunteer
mechanics at the shop. We will continue to expand these nights!

Please let us know if you would like to volunteer your language
and/or bike skills for this or other shop times!

Youth Earn-A-Bike Program
Youth ages 10-21 can come in and complete our four day class where we work hands on with bikes. During the Earn-A-Bike program, students will learn how to fix flats, brake systems, and how to use basic bike tools. At the end of the program, students will be able to put their knowledge to the test and will choose a bike of their choice to work on. We run this program twice a month for two weeks, and it's open to four students at a time. We also connect with how bikes are part of building a movement for social justice. The program is taught by full time college students who will do their best to share the bicycle knowledge they know with their students. Please come in to the shop during open hours to sign up for this program.

Sugar Belly!Women, Trans, & Genderqueer night
1st & 3rd Wednesdays 6:30-9pm
We recognize a lot of women, trans, and genderqueer people may experience gender discrimination as a barrier to riding or working on bikes: this is a time to build community, and empower each other with information and skills to work on bikes! We have workshops and craft nites during these times as well, its super fun and we hope to see you there!

Oakland UpCycle
An adult bicycle commuter program, UpCycle offers a free 4-hour safety course, bicycle, and basic mechanics classes every month at no cost.
